Mario Tlaloc Araujo

Mario was born 4/25/07,diagnosed with Biliary Atresia 6/26/07. BA is a disease (~1 in 15K births) that causes inflammation/obstruction of the bile ducts resulting in back up of bile in the liver which destroys the healthy liver. 7/1/07, Mario had a surgical procedure called a Kasai and was added to the Liver transplant waiting list on 12/4/07. He received his first gift on 3/23/08 but was relisted due to a clotted hepatic artery. He received his second gift on 4/14/08. This is his story...

Mario's Anniversary

Today marks the one year anniversary of Mario's second Liver Transplant. I have struggled over the last few days to find the words to put here. It is with mixed emotions that we recognize this milestone in his progress and recovery. I would ask you each to take a moment out of your day and send your thoughts, prayers and energy toward the family who passes the anniversary of their young sons passing. Because of their amazing gift, Mario is with us today.

Anonymous said...: Wow, that year seemed to fly by....and how long it must have been for the donor family. We can only imagine the mixed feelings that you must have today. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and with the donor family and the wonderful gift that Mario received one year ago today.
