Mario Tlaloc Araujo

Mario was born 4/25/07,diagnosed with Biliary Atresia 6/26/07. BA is a disease (~1 in 15K births) that causes inflammation/obstruction of the bile ducts resulting in back up of bile in the liver which destroys the healthy liver. 7/1/07, Mario had a surgical procedure called a Kasai and was added to the Liver transplant waiting list on 12/4/07. He received his first gift on 3/23/08 but was relisted due to a clotted hepatic artery. He received his second gift on 4/14/08. This is his story...

Meeting Mario's donor family

Our updates are less frequent these days, but I know some of you still check here for updates...so, NEWS! We are scheduled to meet the parents and siblings of Mario's donor (the 2nd one) on Friday. Words cannot describe the feelings I have as I try to prepare for this meeting. I only hope that Mario's life and smile will help give some meaning to their loss.

Thank you for allowing us to meet Mario and sharing this blog with us. I hoped that in donating Clinton's organs, we would be able to spare another family from losing a precious child. After meeting you I can see that we accomplished that. Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with Mario for his continued health.
